About Torch & Grain

We're Josh and Becky — and Torch & Grain started the way most good things do: with a passion project and a garage.

What began as a side hustle quickly became something we couldn't stop thinking about. There's something deeply satisfying about taking a piece of oak, running it through the laser, and watching a name, a date, or a design emerge from the grain. Every piece feels like a small act of making something matter.

We're a family business based in Suffolk, working out of our garage workshop with laser engravers, 3D printers, a lot of sawdust, and two people who genuinely care about what leaves our hands.

Two crafts. One workshop.

We combine two very different but equally powerful making disciplines:

Laser engraving & cutting lets us work with oak, walnut, acrylic, leather, slate, and metal — burning names, photos, and designs into natural materials with extraordinary precision. Oak is our favourite. There's a warmth and character to it that no other material quite matches.

3D printing opens up an entirely different world. We can create shapes, textures, and products that simply can't be made any other way — from NFC smart tags in custom shapes, to our most treasured product: the LED lithophane photo light.

The lithophane — our proudest creation

A lithophane is a 3D printed panel that looks like frosted art in daylight — and transforms into a glowing, backlit photograph when the LED light behind it switches on. Every detail of your chosen photo appears in stunning depth and warmth. We 3D print every lithophane ourselves, from your photo, by hand, in Suffolk.
